Drupattie “Judy” Mangroo, 38, of Pipecon Road, Carlsen Field, who fell ill after contracting COVID weeks ago, died yesterday at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope.
Mangroo, who was the mother of three ages 13, 12 and six, was highlighted in the Guardian on October 12 as she was in desperate need for help and was unable to perform her motherly duties.
Mangroo, who was already stricken with poverty, had recently lost everything in her home due to floods in the area.
Mangroo was diagnosed with scoliosis and doctors had informed relatives that her body was gathering fluid and poor circulation of the blood was detected.
On October 14, two days after the article for help was published in the T&T Guardian, Mangroo was taken to the hospital due to her deteriorating health condition which included severe respiratory issues.
However, she succumbed to her medical complications early yesterday.
On September 16, Mangroo was hospitalised in the Couva Hospital after she tested positive with COVID
Mangroo’s relatives, who are also poverty-stricken, are pleading for help from members of the public to bury her and take care of her three surviving children.
