In­ves­ti­ga­tors are await­ing in­struc­tions from the Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions on whether to charge a moth­er and her two sons in hav­ing con­nec­tion with the mur­der of teenag­er Videsh Dookran. The 46-year-old woman and her chil­dren, ages 18 and 22 of Gol­con­da, Ste Madeleine, were ar­rest­ed last Tues­day.

Fol­low­ing an anony­mous call, po­lice dis­cov­ered the 15-year-old boy's body at an out­door bath­room in Gol­con­da on Oc­to­ber 9.

A woman had called the po­lice around 5 am and re­port­ed that Dookran's body was in­side an aban­doned house at the back of Clas­sic Pluck Shop along Cipero Road. Con­sta­bles Mat­loo and Bal­go­b­in of the Ste Madeleine Po­lice Sta­tion went to the ad­dress and searched the aban­doned house where they found the teenag­er's body in a fe­tal po­si­tion in an out­door bath­room to the back of the build­ing.

Fur­ther in­quiries re­vealed that Dookran was with a group of peo­ple, in­clud­ing chil­dren, around 3 pm the day be­fore (Oc­to­ber 8) his body was found.

An al­ter­ca­tion broke out and some­one pulled out a firearm and shot him. Dookran’s body was then moved to an aban­doned build­ing. An au­top­sy re­vealed that Dookran, a Form Three stu­dent at Ste Madeleine Sec­ondary School, was shot in a chest.

Dookran’s rel­a­tives said that last saw him on Oc­to­ber 8 when he left his Gol­con­da home in the af­ter­noon to vis­it a cousin in the area. Of­fi­cers of the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions Re­gion Three.
