Motorists are complaining about the long wait to fill their CNG fuel tanks at the Rushworth Street service station, the only available supply, at this time, in South Trinidad.
Throughout the day, there had been a long line of vehicles along Hilda Lazzari Terrace as motorists wait more than an hour for their turn.
Guardian Media understands there are two service stations supplying CNG fuel in San Fernando.
However, the CNG supply at the NP carousel in Mon Repos is unavailable due to remedial works.
Point Fortin to San Fernando taxi driver Clyde Bernard explained that the CNG pumps in Point Fortin were shut down years ago, and apart from San Fernando, the next closest station supplying CNG is Couva.
“I am from the South-Western peninsula, and I using CNG years now. Everybody from Icacos, Siparia, Fyzabad, Point Fortin, all these places have to come to San Fernando for CNG. The Prime Minister force people to change to CNG, but it have no CNG pumps to full our tanks,” he complained.
Bernard said the Rushworth Street station recently began supplying CNG, but only one pump services two vehicles at a time. Previously, he said, CNG fuel was only available at the service station in Mon Repos, which has four CNG pumps.
A service advisory on the NGC CNG Company Limited website stated that the CNG supply at NP Carrousel, Mon Repos San Fernando, is currently unavailable due to NP conducting remedial works at the location. Motorists were advised that the works should be completed by Monday, July 10.
“Once given the all clear, NGC CNG will work towards restoring the service right away. CNG is available at the nearby Rushworth St station from 5 am- 8 pm,” the advisory stated.
