The Min­istry of Works and Trans­port will close the por­tion of the Uri­ah But­ler High­way (2.4 km mark south-bound lane, in the vicin­i­ty of Grand Bazaar), from 9:00 pm on Fri­day 16 to 12:00 pm on Sun­day 18 Au­gust 2024.

In an ad­vi­so­ry, the Min­istry says this sec­tion of the High­way will be closed as it pur­sues emer­gency drainage works.

Al­ter­na­tive routes are avail­able through the High­way Par­al­lel Ac­cess Road, on­to Bam­boo #3 Boule­vard.

A video that went vi­ral on so­cial me­dia ear­li­er this week showed a sink­hole form­ing in the area.

Sev­er­al dri­vers, un­aware of the de­pres­sion drove over the area dam­ag­ing their cars.

The pub­lic is be­ing en­cour­aged to fol­low the al­ter­na­tive routes and com­ply with the fol­low­ing di­rec­tions:

  ●   Pro­ceed with ex­treme cau­tion and ob­serve all di­rec­tion­al signs and bar­ri­ers.

  ●   Park­ing will not be per­mit­ted along the ac­cess road to ac­cess the Uri­ah But­ler High­way.

  ●   Com­ply with in­struc­tions is­sued by Po­lice Of­fi­cers and Traf­fic War­dens, where nec­es­sary, to fa­cil­i­tate a safe and or­der­ly flow of traf­fic.

  ●   Be aware of heavy equip­ment en­ter­ing and ex­it­ing the work site.
