MP for Couva North Ravi Ratiram is calling on Minister of National Security Fitzgerald Hinds to stop failing the citizens when it comes to crime. This comes following the murder of Terry Jagdeo in Korea Village, Carapichaima last night.

In a press release issued today, MP Ratiram stated he “is deeply saddened by this shocking and heinous crime that has left two children without their father and once again, thrown the entire village and Carapichaima community into fear.”

The following is a press release from MP Ratiram:

Serious crime is again on the rise in Central Trinidad and MP for Couva North Ravi Ratiram is calling on Minister Fitzgerald Hinds to stop failing the citizens of T&T who are depending on him to provide safe and secure communities.

This comes after a brazen murder took place last night that has rocked the quiet community of Korea Village, Carapichaima within MP Ratiram’s constituency of Couva North. The constituency is now mourning the death of Mahindra Terry Jagdeo of Frankie Drive, Korea Village after he was shot multiple times in what is believed to be a case of mistaken identity.

Jadgeo, a father of two (2) along with a male companion were standing on the junction at the Korea Village Recreation Ground when, at around 9:30pm, a lone gunman approached them on foot and without warning, opened fire. Jagdeo, who was hit in the stomach attempted to wrestle the firearm from the gunman and shouted to his friend to run. In the struggle, Jadgeo was shot multiple times about the head and body. He died on the spot.

His friend who managed to escape was grazed on the arm by one of the bullets fired. Jagdeo would have celebrated his 30th birthday today. Amateur video footage taken by residents of the scene of the murder has been circulating on Social Media.

MP Ratiram is deeply saddened by this shocking and heinous crime that has left two children without their father and once again, thrown the entire village and Carapichaima community into fear.

Only a few weeks ago, the family of Couva North businessman R.Maye was terrorized by six (6) masked assailants disguised as police officers in tactical garb, who jumped their fence, broke down their door and gained access to their Chase Village home where they were held up and robbed.

The Couva North MP is calling for an end to crime and violence, especially gun violence and for the Rowley-led Government to wake up and stop playing with citizens’ lives. MP Ratiram states that while Minister Hinds sleeps soundly at night, our citizens cannot sleep because they are living in a constant state of fear. He says that the persistent failure of Minister Hinds and the Rowley-led Government to address crime is now a hallmark of their incompetence as the blood of yet another innocent life stains the Government’s hands.
