Parliamentarians from Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar to Attorney General Anand Ramlogan donned African garb for yesterday's Parliament sitting to mark the coming Emancipation Day holiday. The brightest clad of them all, however, was PNM MP Donna Cox who literally outshone the others in a brilliant orange and yellow topped outfit–actually the signature colours of the PP Government.

Persad-Bissessar, who sat across from Cox, was much more subdued in a brown and gold full-length outfit, topped by an elaborate pleated and ruffled headdress with matching gold shoes. Attorney General Anand Ramlogan wore a white dashiki and fez with white pants. Works Minister Jack Warner was also in synch with the mood with an orange and black top, somewhat more conservatively cut than his colleagues.

PP MP Winston Peters wore light blue-grey robes and hat. Sports Minister Anil Roberts sported a wine red tunic. MP Lincoln Douglas was in a royal blue outfit while his colleague MP Vernella Alleyne-Toppin displayed an orange and yellow gown and hat. PNM MP Joanne Thomas wore silver grey. Thomas and Cox were the only two PNM MPs in African wear.
