Forty-six-year-old Clyde Mansano of Mt. Dor Road, Champs Fleurs, was granted bail after appearing in court on a charge of bribery related to the April 28, 2025 General Election.

The man appeared before Master Gray on Monday, May 5, 2025. He was granted bail on his own recognizance and is scheduled to return to court on June 5, 2025.

According to a report from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), Mansano was arrested on Monday, April 28,, and charged on Friday, May 2, 2025, with bribery under Section 96(2)(a) of the Representation of the People Act, Chapter 2:01.

Police stated that around 9:40 a.m. on April 28, a police officer, acting on information received, intercepted a vehicle on Mt. Dor Road.

The driver was allegedly observed offering and paying individuals between $300 and $400 to vote for a particular party.

The officer identified himself and informed the driver of the suspicion. According to the report, the man said he had been paid $800 to drive and that the funds he had were from a “sou sou.”

He then produced TT$30,000 from his pocket, which police said was later seized.

On April 30, 2025, the Financial Investigations Branch (FIB) conducted a cash seizure operation, during which TT$30,000 was confiscated from the man’s possession.

The investigation was led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Suzette Martin, with assistance from Assistant Commissioners Richard Smith and Rishi Singh and Senior Superintendent Michael Pierre.

It was supervised by Inspector Pierre, Legal Officer Sergeant Andre George, and Sergeant Newton.
