A 34-year-old man was gunned down while at Sec­ond Cale­do­nia in Mor­vant on Thurs­day night.

He was iden­ti­fied as Ron­nie Wick­ham of the said area.

Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, at about 8.30 pm Wick­ham had just ar­rived at the cor­ner of De No­bri­ga and Al­mond Dri­ve in a pri­vate taxi which he hired from the area to meet some­one.

Po­lice said Wick­ham came out if the ve­hi­cle and went to talk to the per­son af­ter which when they were done talk­ing and while Wick­ham was sig­nalling to the taxi dri­ver to re­verse to pick him up sev­er­al loud ex­plo­sions were heard. The gum­man then point­ed the gun to the dri­ver who quick­ly drove off and flagged down a po­lice ve­hi­cle.

Wick­ham was tak­en to the Port of Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal where he was pro­nounced dead on ar­rival.

Po­lice said two spent 40 cal­i­bre shells were re­cov­ered from the scene.

In an­oth­er shoot­ing in­ci­dent, al­so at Al­mond Dri­ve Mor­vant on Fri­day morn­ing a 27-year-old man was shot.

He was al­so tak­en to the hos­pi­tal for treat­ment, how­ev­er, up to press time his con­di­tion was not known.
