A 34-year-old man was gunned down while at Second Caledonia in Morvant on Thursday night.
He was identified as Ronnie Wickham of the said area.
According to a police report, at about 8.30 pm Wickham had just arrived at the corner of De Nobriga and Almond Drive in a private taxi which he hired from the area to meet someone.
Police said Wickham came out if the vehicle and went to talk to the person after which when they were done talking and while Wickham was signalling to the taxi driver to reverse to pick him up several loud explosions were heard. The gumman then pointed the gun to the driver who quickly drove off and flagged down a police vehicle.
Wickham was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police said two spent 40 calibre shells were recovered from the scene.
In another shooting incident, also at Almond Drive Morvant on Friday morning a 27-year-old man was shot.
He was also taken to the hospital for treatment, however, up to press time his condition was not known.
