The brother-in-law of Crystal Harricharan was killed after gunmen opened fire during her wake in Claxton Bay, shortly after midnight.
Sham Bridgelal, 56, was among several people attending the wake at the home where her parents and other relatives live, at Boodoo Trace, Claxton Bay.
The shooting occurred hours before Harricharan's funeral service, scheduled for 9 am today at the house.
Initial reports stated that around 12:15am, Bridgelal was among other people gathered at the wake when a silver vehicle pulled up. Two gunmen came out and opened fire at them, and then got back into the vehicle which sped off.
Bridgelal collapsed and died on the walkway that leads to the house.
Police recovered at the scene nine .223 shells and ten 9-millimetre shell casings with four projectiles.
On Tuesday (April 9), Harricharan was shot dead at Jarvis Street in Vistabella as she was entering her car.
In January this year, her house—which is situated near her family's home in Claxton Bay—was firebombed twice and shot at.
Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region 3 are investigating.
