Months af­ter Mikiel Ho­sein’s de­com­pos­ing body was found, there was a “strange” oc­cur­rence at the very lo­ca­tion where his body was dumped in Ch­agua­nas.

Po­lice said one side of Mikiel’s cam­ou­flage slip­pers was placed at the base of a wreath which was placed to mark the spot where his body was dis­cov­ered in No­vem­ber last year. Up to yes­ter­day, the slip­per was still at the lo­ca­tion.

Po­lice of­fi­cers now sus­pect that there could be oth­er items of ev­i­den­tial val­ue that may be able to as­sist with their in­ves­ti­ga­tions.

Po­lice sources said they were in­formed by a fam­i­ly mem­ber that one side of Ho­sein’s slip­per, which ap­peared to be blood-stained, was placed at the makeshift memo­r­i­al.

Of­fi­cers said they were not cer­tain if Ho­sein’s be­long­ings were left on the scene in er­ror by Crime Scene In­ves­ti­ga­tors and of­fi­cers of the Homi­cide Re­gion 3, or if Ho­sein’s be­long­ings were placed there af­ter his body was found and re­moved.

When con­tact­ed for com­ment, Ho­sein’s moth­er, Ri­ma, said she did not know any­thing about her son’s slip­per.

“It is very strange and to be hon­est I am scared about this whole thing. I called the po­lice and asked about the sta­tus of the in­ves­ti­ga­tions but they had no news for me, no leads noth­ing. But I would like for the po­lice to do their in­ves­ti­ga­tions prop­er­ly and go to the area and get the slip­per and look all around, in­clud­ing in the drain, to see what else of Mikiel’s they can find and or see if the pieces of ev­i­dence can help them solve this and get jus­tice for my son,” the moth­er said.

Ho­sein dis­ap­peared while search­ing for his broth­er, Matthew, who still re­mains miss­ing.

Matthew was last seen on Au­gust 25, 2023, and CCTV footage re­trieved by po­lice in­ves­ti­ga­tors showed him walk­ing along the Freeport Mis­sion Road, at Three Roads Junc­tion, talk­ing on a cell phone. The footage al­so had au­di­ble au­dio which cap­tured parts of Matthew’s con­ver­sa­tion.

Ho­sein was last seen on Oc­to­ber 31 in Ch­agua­nas talk­ing to a pop­u­lar crime talk show tele­vi­sion host. It is sus­pect­ed that some­one was watch­ing him as he spoke to the tele­vi­sion per­son­al­i­ty. His de­com­pos­ing body was found at Wood­ford Gar­dens, Ch­agua­nas, in No­vem­ber 2023.

Po­lice sources told the Guardian Me­dia that of­fi­cers from the Freeport Po­lice Sta­tion, Ca­nine Unit and Homi­cide car­ried out a search of a heav­i­ly bushy area at Up­per Are­na Road, near WASA’s wa­ter tanks, where they found a pouch. It is, how­ev­er, yet to be con­firmed if it be­longs to Matthew.

The po­lice are yet to re­turn to the area to con­duct an ex­ten­sive search.

Any­one with any in­for­ma­tion that can as­sist the po­lice in their in­ves­ti­ga­tions on the where­abouts of Matthew and/or the mur­der of Mikiel is asked to con­tact PC Stoute of the Freeport Po­lice Sta­tion, or any oth­er po­lice sta­tion, 999, 555 or 800-TIPS.
