Murdered Venezuelan national Isabella Lusado was involved in a long-standing feud with the woman who reportedly stabbed her to death last week.
Relatives told reporters yesterday that the 26-year-old mother of three allegedly kept a knife on her to defend herself against physical attacks from the killer.
The killer allegedly slapped Lusado in the face several weeks ago, and the two engaged in verbal confrontations whenever they came face-to-face.
Lusado, who lived at an apartment in Cunupia, was stabbed multiple times in the arm and upper body on February 25 by the alleged killer and the killer’s boyfriend, who reportedly held her down.
Lusado’s two elder children live in Venezuela with her relatives, while her third—a 14-month-old boy who was with her at the time of the stabbing—currently remains in the care of her friends.
A relative who identified her body at the Forensic Science Centre, St James, yesterday told reporters that Lusado’s family could not afford to come to Trinidad.
Her body will be cremated in T&T, and the ashes taken to Venezuela where her mother and children can dispose of then.
Asked if the couple had been arrested by the police yet, he said they remained on the run up to yesterday.
The relative was uncertain if they had fled the country or if the police were even searching for them.
