The or­gan­is­ing com­mit­tee of Miss World Trinidad and To­ba­go Fran­chise cat­e­gor­i­cal­ly re­jects any and all un­found­ed al­le­ga­tions of bias or dis­crim­i­na­tion.

This comes af­ter Miss Ply­mouth Karielle Rams­den post­ed to her Face­book Page that as a To­bag­on­ian, she ex­pe­ri­enced racism and prej­u­dice dur­ing the com­pe­ti­tion.

Rams­den said there was no "Miss Ply­mouth's pho­to" on the Miss World TT Fran­chise page the night of the show be­cause no con­sid­er­a­tion was giv­en to her to get her Beau­ty with a Pur­pose project done.

The con­tes­tant said the sched­ule was changed sev­er­al times and when she in­sist­ed that the project be done, she missed the pho­to­shoot.

"Know­ing this on my re­turn to Trinidad, I called the Fran­chise hold­er and re­quest­ed for her to make the arrange­ment to get my pho­tos tak­en...Her first re­sponse was "that will have to be done next week" when the next week ar­rived her sec­ond re­sponse was she'll talk to the pho­tog­ra­phers and get back to me". She nev­er did," she wrote.

Many on so­cial me­dia said they no­ticed that some­thing was wrong and thanked her for her rep­re­sen­ta­tion.

"Young la­dy, just rep­re­sent­ing makes you a win­ner," El­ton Charles Crichlow wrote.

"I'm so hap­py you spoke out about YOUR ex­pe­ri­ence and hope­ful­ly you aren't judged or pe­nal­ized for this," Ma­jy Blair added.

But some peo­ple did not be­lieve Rams­den's al­le­ga­tions.

"I don't un­der­stand the peo­ple say­ing Karielle was dis­crim­i­nat­ed against when the top 5 in­clud­ed Miss San Juan who al­so had nat­ur­al hair," Nicole R said.

The or­gan­is­ing com­mit­tee said the di­ver­si­ty rep­re­sent­ed in the sev­en­teen fi­nal­ists, the top ten, the fi­nal five, the top three win­ners, the se­lec­tion com­mit­tees, judges and de­sign­ers can be eas­i­ly ob­served and there has been ab­solute­ly no racial prej­u­dice or oth­er­wise in this com­pe­ti­tion.

Miss World Trinidad and To­ba­go cel­e­brates the rich di­ver­si­ty of our coun­try's cul­tures and eth­nic­i­ties through our fran­chise.

It said part of the com­pe­ti­tion's in­tegri­ty and trans­paren­cy, the Miss World Trinidad and To­ba­go team sup­port­ed each fi­nal­ist to en­sure equal op­por­tu­ni­ties for skill de­vel­op­ment, ex­po­sure, and sup­port. While we un­der­stand that there will be dis­ap­point­ments, on­ly one girl had to be cho­sen to rep­re­sent our coun­try.

Miss Mara­cas Val­ley Aché Abra­hams won the com­pe­ti­tion and will rep­re­sent T&T in the 2023 com­pe­ti­tion.
