The mur­der count for the year stood at 65 up to late yes­ter­day, af­ter two men were shot dead at Chi­napoo Vil­lage in Mor­vant.

They have been iden­ti­fied as Dwayne “Home Alone” Danglade, 35, of Wal­lace Trace, Chi­napoo and Sea Lots, and Cody Rob­ley, 30, of Con­ces­sion Dri­ve, Sea Lots.

Po­lice said at about 2.20 am, PC Fri­day and oth­er of­fi­cers from the North East­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force re­spond­ed to a re­port of rapid gun­shots at Crow Trace, Chi­napoo, Mor­vant.

On ar­rival, they saw the two men ly­ing on the road.

Po­lice said they re­cov­ered sev­er­al spent shells, in­clud­ing 7.62 mm and 5.56 mm cal­i­bre shells, on the scene.

Danglade’s moth­er, In­grid, and oth­er rel­a­tives, who were on the scene, iden­ti­fied him by his tat­toos.

Speak­ing with mem­bers of the me­dia while on the scene, In­grid, an am­putee who is wheel­chair-bound, said her son was not a good boy but added that she of­ten spoke to him about life and his choic­es. She said he nev­er lis­tened but added that he was her on­ly son of sev­en chil­dren.

She said Danglade, who lived in Sea Lots, had five chil­dren to take care of – one in Eng­land, one in the US and three in T&T.

“I am not them moth­ers that say that my son is a good bo,y but my son was out there and he was a lov­ing child. He was here back­ward and for­ward, I nev­er run my son. Yes­ter­day, (Wednes­day) he brought a part­ner for food here. I told him I cook bo­di, he said he don’t eat bo­di but my hus­band gave him the food. My son used to clean my foot. We had our ups and downs but I love my son be­cause it is one boy child I make,” In­grid said.

“I used to talk to my son but you could talk how much you could talk but is you have to lis­ten. I used to tell him to watch your­self, watch your back. They don’t like him. They tried to kill him here al­ready. That was in 2013, In­di­an Ar­rival Day and he jumped through a win­dow and fell in a canal and get away. An­oth­er time, he was in a par­ty and he came home and they shot him in his foot,” she added.

She said on Wednes­day evening, he passed by to look for her and to get food for one of his friends to eat.

“I heard the shots from thee dif­fer­ent guns. We call every­body.”

A rel­a­tive of Rob­ley, who wished not to be iden­ti­fied, said Rob­ley was “just a dri­ver.”

“He was just a dri­ver and that is what hurt­ing me. He just went and drop the man and I don’t know what hap­pened af­ter. They say he went to drop the man, that’s all the in­for­ma­tion I get,” the rel­a­tive said.

Rob­ley’s rel­a­tive de­scribed him as a “nor­mal, re­al cool guy” and said the crime sit­u­a­tion is very dis­pleas­ing, as there is no love in com­mu­ni­ties again.

“Broth­ers killing broth­ers for no rea­son. It have no love again. Every­body look­ing to be a boss,” he said.

Mean­while, in a sep­a­rate in­ci­dent at Windy Hill, Arou­ca, two men were shot and wound­ed. They were tak­en to hos­pi­tal by the po­lice.

Po­lice said at about 8.30 am, the men were am­bushed by gun­men while at Hill­crest Dri­ve.

Dur­ing a vis­it to the area, crime scene in­ves­ti­ga­tors were seen pro­cess­ing the scene, in­clud­ing re­cov­er­ing spent shells.

Res­i­dents re­mained tight-lipped about the in­ci­dent, say­ing on­ly that over the years there have been an up­surge of shoot­ings and mur­ders in the area due to drugs and gang mem­bers al­leged­ly hid­ing out in the area.

Po­lice said the dou­ble mur­der and the shoot­ing in Arou­ca were gang re­lat­ed.
