For the next three weeks, start­ing from mid­night tonight, in house din­ing is banned in restau­rants, cin­e­mas, casi­nos and bars.

These were among pub­lic health re­stric­tions an­nounced by Health Min­is­ter Ter­rence Deyals­ingh dur­ing the reg­u­lar me­dia up­date on the COVID-19 pan­dem­ic. The mea­sures were tak­en fol­low­ing an in­crease in COVID-19 cas­es.

The oth­er re­stric­tions be­ing en­forced in­clude a re­duc­tion in pub­lic gath­er­ings from ten peo­ple to five and the clo­sure of all beach­es to the pub­lic. Boat tours on Buc­coo Reef are al­lowed but no mu­sic can be played

Min­is­ter Deyals­ingh said the sec­ond phase of the vac­cine roll­out is sched­uled to start on Sat­ur­day with the vac­ci­na­tion of es­sen­tial work­ers. This group in­cludes Par­lia­men­tar­i­ans and their spous­es, se­nior pub­lic of­fi­cers, po­lice and fire of­fi­cers and mem­bers of the De­fence Force.
