The new­ly-launched In­no­v­a­tive De­mo­c­ra­t­ic Al­liance (IDA) is al­ready prepar­ing for the To­ba­go House of As­sem­bly elec­tions.

The par­ty was launched last week in To­ba­go with Dr Denise Tsoiafatt-An­gus as the face of the or­gan­i­sa­tion.

Since then Dr Tsoiafatt-An­gus main­tains that she is not the leader but rep­re­sents the “voice of the lead­er­ship” of To­ba­go’s newest po­lit­i­cal par­ty. The need for clar­i­fi­ca­tion comes af­ter the par­ty’s so­cial me­dia launch last week, where Dr Tsoiafatt-An­gus was the on­ly per­son fea­tured in a fif­teen-minute video in­tro­duc­ing the par­ty. And al­though there was no men­tion or ap­pear­ance by any oth­er par­ty mem­bers, she said that IDA does not be­long to any one per­son. She said no of­fi­cial po­si­tions have been as­signed to par­ty mem­bers just yet.

“The IDA does not be­long to any one in­di­vid­ual, it be­longs to any in­di­vid­ual and every in­di­vid­ual who choos­es to sup­port the pro­mo­tion of change to­wards eq­ui­ty for all and I want to em­pha­sise that it’s not about me. Sev­er­al voic­es came to­geth­er and con­tributed to the con­ver­sa­tion which lead to the launch so in the spir­it of in­clu­sion the par­ty can­not on­ly be led by one per­son.”

As the voice and so far, the on­ly face be­hind the IDA, Dr Tsoiafatt-An­gus said her team is al­ready on the ground and prepar­ing for the THA elec­tion when­ev­er the date is an­nounced. She said the oth­er key play­ers and their po­si­tions with­in the IDA will be dis­closed at the end of this month.

She said suc­cess­ful or­gan­i­sa­tions are built on the abil­i­ty to over­come ob­sta­cles. Fol­low­ing the launch of the IDA mem­bers of the pub­lic ac­cused Dr Tsoiafatt-An­gus of be­ing a “PNM tool de­vised to split votes.”

She said the IDA is fo­cused on chang­ing that mind­set.
