As hun­dreds of peo­ple rush to get their ve­hi­cles in­spect­ed, the Li­cens­ing Au­thor­i­ty will op­er­a­tionalise two sta­di­ums for in­spec­tions. 

Trans­port Com­mis­sion­er, Clive Clark says over the next six weeks, those who own ve­hi­cles that are over 6,000 kg will be able to have their in­spec­tion done at the Ato Boldon Sta­di­um in Cou­va and the Lar­ry Gomes Sta­di­um in Ari­ma. 

Clarke says these in­spec­tions will be done on an ap­point­ment sys­tem. He said since the Li­cens­ing Au­thor­i­ty’s mora­to­ri­um on in­spec­tions and per­mit re­newals end­ed at the end of De­cem­ber, hun­dreds of peo­ple have been rush­ing to get their in­spec­tions done, caus­ing a ma­jor back­log at li­cens­ing of­fices across the coun­try. 

Clarke says while li­cens­ing of­fi­cers have been car­ry­ing out road checks for in­spec­tion cer­tifi­cates, no tick­ets have been is­sued for the year so far. Fail­ure to have a valid in­spec­tion cer­tifi­cate at­tracts a $1,000 tick­et and six de­mer­it points.
