A 32-year-old delivery driver of St Francois Valley Road, Belmont, was shot several times by armed men on Tuesday, as he delivered supplies in the Longdenville area.
Police said the victim, who is employed with National Flour Mills, was reportedly driving the company’s white Mitsubishi Canter Truck south along St Louis Drive, Longdenville, around 3.30 pm on July 8, when
two gunmen ran out into the roadway and opened fire on the vehicle.
As the victim drove off, he felt a burning sensation in both legs and looked down to see blood oozing from gunshot wounds to both thighs.
As officers from the Longdenville Police Post arrived, they found the victim parked on the road and they took him to the Chaguanas Health Facility, where he was treated before being transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope, where he remains in stable condition.
Police said a total of eight 9 mm shell casings were recovered at the scene.
