Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a woman who was knocked down along the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway in Aranguez early on Monday morning.
Sources said police received a report of a body lying at the side of the roadway near the Courts Megastore around 5 am and visited the scene.
A district medical officer was called in and declared the woman dead shortly after.
Investigators said the woman was of East Indian descent and was wearing a pink T-shirt, floral-patterned pants and a black backpack.
Investigators confirmed that the backpack contained several old newspapers and the names of several people, but they were unable to confirm whether any of the names belonged to the woman.
The woman’s body was taken to the Forensic Science Centre, St James, early on Monday. However, it was later returned to storage at a funeral agency pending positive identification.
Police are now appealing to members of the public with information that may assist in identifying the woman to contact investigators.
