Po­lice are seek­ing the pub­lic’s help in iden­ti­fy­ing a woman who was knocked down along the Churchill-Roo­sevelt High­way in Aranguez ear­ly on Mon­day morn­ing.

Sources said po­lice re­ceived a re­port of a body ly­ing at the side of the road­way near the Courts Mega­s­tore around 5 am and vis­it­ed the scene.

A dis­trict med­ical of­fi­cer was called in and de­clared the woman dead short­ly af­ter.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors said the woman was of East In­di­an de­scent and was wear­ing a pink T-shirt, flo­ral-pat­terned pants and a black back­pack.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors con­firmed that the back­pack con­tained sev­er­al old news­pa­pers and the names of sev­er­al peo­ple, but they were un­able to con­firm whether any of the names be­longed to the woman.

The woman’s body was tak­en to the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre, St James, ear­ly on Mon­day. How­ev­er, it was lat­er re­turned to stor­age at a fu­ner­al agency pend­ing pos­i­tive iden­ti­fi­ca­tion.

Po­lice are now ap­peal­ing to mem­bers of the pub­lic with in­for­ma­tion that may as­sist in iden­ti­fy­ing the woman to con­tact in­ves­ti­ga­tors.
