Moth­er’s Day this year was noth­ing but loom and gloom for Ri­ma Ho­sein, whose teenage son, Mikiel, was found dead af­ter he went miss­ing.

Her younger son, Matthew, re­mains miss­ing and as Ho­sein ex­plained, she fears he may nev­er be found.

“I am not hear­ing from the po­lice any­more on the case. Af­ter Mikiel’s body was found, I tried hard in keep­ing hope alive for Matthew but noth­ing yet, and it’s eat­ing me alive. I grieve for my boys every day and more so for Matthew be­cause I have no clo­sure and no hope from the po­lice. My calls to the po­lice go unan­swered and the po­lice do not call me to give any up­date on the in­ves­ti­ga­tion,” Ho­sein said.

Matthew was last seen on Au­gust 25 and CCTV footage re­trieved by po­lice in­ves­ti­ga­tors showed him walk­ing along the Freeport Mis­sion Road at Three Roads Junc­tion talk­ing on a cell­phone. The footage al­so had au­dio which cap­tured parts of Matthew’s con­ver­sa­tion.

Mikiel was last seen on Oc­to­ber 31 in Ch­agua­nas talk­ing to a pop­u­lar crime talk show tele­vi­sion host. It is be­lieved he was be­ing watched by some­one then.

His de­com­pos­ing body was found at Wood­ford Park, Ch­agua­nas, in No­vem­ber last year.

Ho­sein, who is un­em­ployed, lament­ed that her sons used to be bread­win­ners in her house­hold.

“When they get their lit­tle work around they helped me with gro­ceries and things I need. Now I am left with no help. I can­not even se­cure a job al­though I’ve been try­ing to get one so that I can help out my­self and take care of my daugh­ter,” she said.

“My Moth­er’s Day would be per­fect if at least I can get clo­sure as to what be­came of my son, where is he. If there’s a body at least, I pray that the in­for­ma­tion can come for­ward so that I can get the body and be able to give him a prop­er bur­ial,” she added.

Po­lice sources at the Freeport sta­tion said they have no new in­for­ma­tion for Matthew’s case but as­sured the in­ves­ti­ga­tion is still on­go­ing.
