The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service says in a significant operation by the Tobago Divisional Task Force, a 30-year-old employee of the Office of the Chief Secretary was detained yesterday in connection with illegal trafficking activities.

In a statement the TTPS said on August 10, 2024, at approximately 6:13 pm, officers on mobile patrol along Joefield Trace, Lambeau, spotted a heavily tinted Mitsubishi Lancer driving suspiciously.

Officers intercepted and stopped the vehicle, discovering that it was occupied solely by a man from Lambeau Village.

Upon searching the vehicle, officers reportedly uncovered what they called a troubling array of illegal items, including a Glock pistol,15 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 613 grams of cannabis, 97 ecstasy pills, $410 TTD, $14 USD, $100 EC, Two shortwave radios, a vacuum sealer, One ski mask, several transparent packets, one digital scale and 27 Digicel SIM cards.

The individual, who lacked a driver's permit and was not the vehicle’s registered owner, was arrested on the spot.

He, along with the vehicle and the seized items, was transported to the Scarborough Police Station for further processing.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to uncover the full extent of the trafficking operation and its connections.
