One held after Carapichaima homeowner notices bandits on security cameras

A Cara­pichaima home in­va­sion was thwart­ed when the own­er of the house no­ticed ban­dits lin­ger­ing out­side us­ing a se­cu­ri­ty cam­era sys­tem ear­ly Tues­day morn­ing.

Po­lice said the own­er of the house was awake around 2.40 am when she no­ticed four ban­dits on the front step of her Wa­ter­loo Road home.

She called for help, wak­ing an­oth­er neigh­bour who trig­gered his se­cu­ri­ty alarm.

Po­lice from the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion Task Force rushed to the scene as one of the ban­dits dropped a bolt cut­ter and jumped over a near­by gate.

This ban­dit was ar­rest­ed by po­lice as his ac­com­plices got in­to a red Toy­ota Yaris and sped off.

An all-points bul­letin (APB) was is­sued for the ban­dits’ get­away car, but it was not found.

The 19-year-old sus­pect who is from east Port of Spain is ex­pect­ed to be ques­tioned and charged.
