Police are investigating two shootings in Laventille and Arima, which claimed one man’s life and left two others injured on Sunday evening.

According to reports, around 5.30 pm, homicide detectives responded to the scene of a shooting at Hitler Trace, Trou Macaque, Laventille.

Moments before, residents heard a volley of gunshots and then found a man lying at the side of the road with gunshot wounds.

The victim, who was later identified as Jamari Villareal, of Beetham Gardens, was pronounced dead on the scene by a District Medical Officer (DMO).

Less than an hour later, police were summoned to the scene of a drive-by shooting in Arima.

The victims, 43-year-old Randy Seeransingh and 38-year-old Guyanese national Jason Jagroo were reportedly liming along Arima Old Road, Arima, when they had an argument with a man they know.

Shortly after the man left the scene, a car drove past them and an occupant shot in their direction.

Seeransingh was shot in his neck and upper torso, while Jagroo was shot in his chest and abdomen.

Both men were taken to hospital for treatment and remained in critical condition, up to late yesterday.

Villareal’s killing raised the murder toll for the year to 503.
