One man has been arrested following the tragic death of Angelica Jogie at Pigeon Point yesterday.
The seven-year-old girl was struck by a jet ski while playing in the area designated for bathing with her parents and other relatives. She later died at the Scarborough Hospital.
Senior Superintendent Rodhill Kirk told Guardian Media this morning that police had arrested a suspect and impounded the jet ski.
Asked whether the suspect surrendered, Kirk replied, “The police detained the suspect.”
Investigations are ongoing.
Yesterday, Chief Secretary Farley Augustine called on the jet ski operator to turn himself in.
He also appealed to the relatives of the jet ski operator to contact the police.
“The perpetrator is still at large. I want to appeal to the family members and friends of the jet ski operator. You should not be hiding from TTPS. You need to say exactly what transpired and how the jet ski ended up in the zone designated for bathers,” he said.
