Palmyra farmers in fear after man’s murder

Farm­ers of Palmyra are afraid to tend to their crops af­ter a man was shot dead near their agri­cul­tur­al fields.

The mur­der is be­lieved to have oc­curred around mid­night on Sun­day but it was on­ly around 9 am yes­ter­day that the body was found.

It bore what ap­peared to be stab wounds to the up­per tor­so and gun­shot wounds to the head.

A farmer, who re­quest­ed anonymi­ty, said a black ve­hi­cle was seen speed­ing out of Suzan­na Trace, off the Palmyra Main Road where for­mer Ca­roni work­ers now plant agri­cul­tur­al lands.

Of­fi­cers from San Fer­nan­do CID and Homi­cide Re­gion III de­tec­tives in­clud­ing Supt Jack­man, ASP Ra­moutar, In­sp Ma­haraj and In­sp Phillip vis­it­ed the area.

Res­i­dents told po­lice the vic­tim was not known to them but an ID card was found in his pants pock­et bear­ing an ad­dress in Gas­par­il­lo.

Up to late yes­ter­day, the man was not iden­ti­fied.
