The sweet sounds of Steel­pan and Tas­sa filled the Car­ni­val Mon­day night air in Ch­agua­nas as the Pan and Tas­sa con­cert was held.

Ch­agua­nas Bor­ough Car­ni­val Com­mit­tee chair­man Rene Bai­ley said she was pleased with the in­crease in spec­ta­tors not just at the con­cert but at all events held in the cen­tral bor­ough this year.

The show be­gan around 6 pm with an open­ing per­for­mance from the New Age Trend­set­ters Steel Or­ches­tra fol­lowed by the Shoot­ing Stars Tas­sa Band.

The Trop­i­cal An­gel Harps and Pan An­gels al­so per­formed and the evening cul­mi­nat­ed with a danc­ing com­pe­ti­tion for mem­bers of the pub­lic who per­formed to the strains of the Tas­sa drums. A large num­ber of Venezue­lan mi­grants made up the crowd and sev­er­al mi­grants told Guardian Me­dia that re­gion­al cel­e­bra­tions are how they learn about, ap­pre­ci­ate and par­tic­i­pate in T&T’s cul­ture. Some even par­tic­i­pat­ed in the danc­ing con­test.
