Former Minister in the Ministry of National Security Subhas Panday wants the Government to amend the Anti-Gang Act to include white-collar crimes committed by politicians.
In a media conference at his San Fernando law chambers Thursday, Panday said that the offences for which Port-of-Spain South MP Marlene McDonald, her husband Michael Carew, former chairman of the National Commission for Self Help Edgar Zephyrine, Wayne Anthony and Victor McEachrane share characteristics with gang behaviour.
McDonald, who was fired as Minister of Public Administration on Monday, was charged with misbehaviour in public office, money laundering and conspiracy to defraud the government. Carew, Zephyrine, Anthony and McEachrane were charged with similar offences.
