Dr. Neil Parsan has been ap­point­ed Am­bas­sador and Per­ma­nent Rep­re­sen­ta­tive of the Re­pub­lic of Trinidad and To­ba­go to the Unit­ed Na­tions, New York.

Sean Sobers, Min­is­ter of For­eign and CARI­COM Af­fairs, pre­sent­ed the In­stru­ment of Ap­point­ment on be­half of the Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar.

Am­bas­sador Parsan as­sumed du­ties at the Per­ma­nent Mis­sion of Trinidad and To­ba­go to the Unit­ed Na­tions, New York, on Au­gust 11.

The ju­ris­dic­tion of the Per­ma­nent Mis­sion in­cludes Unit­ed Na­tions or­gan­i­sa­tions where Trinidad and To­ba­go ad­vances its po­si­tions on mat­ters of in­ter­na­tion­al peace and se­cu­ri­ty, sus­tain­able de­vel­op­ment, hu­man rights, and oth­er pri­or­i­ty ar­eas.

Dr. Parsan pre­vi­ous­ly served as Am­bas­sador Ex­tra­or­di­nary and Plenipo­ten­tiary of Trinidad and To­ba­go to the Unit­ed States of Amer­i­ca, the Unit­ed Mex­i­can States, and as Per­ma­nent Rep­re­sen­ta­tive to the Or­ga­ni­za­tion of Amer­i­can States. He al­so held the post of Ex­ec­u­tive Sec­re­tary for In­te­gral De­vel­op­ment at the OAS, where he led ini­tia­tives across the West­ern Hemi­sphere in the ar­eas of sus­tain­able de­vel­op­ment, ed­u­ca­tion, pub­lic sec­tor re­form, and re­gion­al co­op­er­a­tion.

Dr. Parsan has ex­pe­ri­ence in in­ter­na­tion­al diplo­ma­cy, glob­al pol­i­cy de­vel­op­ment, and pub­lic-pri­vate part­ner­ships. He is the re­cip­i­ent of awards and com­men­da­tions for con­tri­bu­tions to diplo­ma­cy, ed­u­ca­tion, and hu­man­i­tar­i­an work.

The Gov­ern­ment of the Re­pub­lic of Trinidad and To­ba­go stat­ed that Am­bas­sador Parsan’s ap­point­ment is ex­pect­ed to strength­en the coun­try’s rep­re­sen­ta­tion at the Unit­ed Na­tions and sup­port the ad­vance­ment of its in­ter­ests in­ter­na­tion­al­ly.
