"It is To­ba­go time now!"

Pro­gres­sive De­mo­c­ra­t­ic Pa­tri­ots deputy leader Far­ley Au­gus­tine ad­dressed sup­port­ers Mon­day night af­ter top­pling the Peo­ple's Na­tion­al Move­ment to take con­trol of the To­ba­go House of As­sem­bly (THA).

Un­of­fi­cial fig­ures show the PDP won 12 dis­tricts, while the PNM man­aged to hold on­to 3. The of­fi­cial re­sults will be re­leased by the EBC.

Au­gus­tine said that in less than five years, the PDP was able to achieve what pre­vi­ous long­stand­ing po­lit­i­cal par­ties could not.

"The things I covenant with you re­main the same," Au­gus­tine told the gath­er­ing

The covenant in­cludes a changed THA which would work to­ward the ben­e­fit for all To­bag­o­ni­ans and not just "a few."

"I wish to use this plat­form to say to you we can­not dis­ap­point To­bag­o­ni­ans any­more," he said.

Au­gus­tine said that To­bag­o­ni­ans were dis­ap­point­ed over the last 21 years.

"Tonight starts a new day for To­ba­go," he said.

Au­gus­tine said that they could not be­have like those who ruled be­fore and said that they would be held to a high­er stan­dard.

"To­ba­go I can­not thank you enough," he said.

Au­gus­tine said this win was a re­jec­tion of a To­bag­on­ian Prime Min­is­ter over the in­com­plete au­ton­o­my.

"We have re­ject­ed your bul­ly­ing tac­tics and the kind of bul­ly­ing that hap­pens in Trinidad, we re­ject that," he said.

Au­gus­tine al­so called for a cor­dial re­la­tion­ship with Prime Min­is­ter Row­ley and asked him to not pe­nal­ize the peo­ple of To­ba­go. Au­gus­tine said that the peo­ple of To­ba­go are strong enough to top­ple him.

Au­gus­tine said that Row­ley was the Prime Min­is­ter of all the peo­ple of T&T and not just of the PNM.

He called on the sup­port­ers of the PDP to lead the way to the change.

Au­gus­tine said he would "for­ev­er big up" the par­ty's po­lit­i­cal leader Wat­son Duke and lay all cred­it for the win at his feet.

He said that Duke took all the licks dur­ing this elec­tion.

"We have had a long and ar­du­ous bat­tle," he said.

Au­gus­tine said that the PDP win showed that no amount of "big mon­ey" from Trinidad could not win an elec­tion in To­ba­go and men­tioned the mon­ey spent by the PNM on ads to dis­cred­it the PDP.

Au­gus­tine said that he was ready to get to work and was no longer wear­ing the PDP in­signia be­cause it was no longer about the par­ty but it was now about the coun­try.
