A 77-year-old pensioner died after a wooden structure collapsed on him at his Penal home on Monday.
He has been identified as Kenny Harbuckhan of Satnarine Trace.
Harbuckhan’s daughter-in-law told police that around 9.35 am, she was at home when she heard a loud bang in the yard. She called out to him but received no response.
Upon checking the area, she found his body pinned beneath debris from a small wooden structure. She raised an alarm, and relatives and neighbours assisted in removing him from the debris.
Emergency medical technicians were contacted and, on arrival, attempted to resuscitate him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Guardian Media visited the home yesterday, but relatives declined to comment. Enquiries are continuing.
