A Penal man who has been charged with 17 offences including robbery with violence, false imprisonment and kidnapping, following a robbery in Barrackpore in July, is scheduled to appear before a High Court Master in San Fernando today.
The 25-year-old man from Penal was arrested on Sunday (August 31, 2025), following investigations into a report of a robbery that had occurred in Barrackpore on July 28, 2025.
According to police reports, the victims—two brothers and their families—were at their separate homes on the same compound in Barrackpore when six assailants launched an attack. Five of the assailants were armed.
The victims reported that during the ordeal, they were beaten with firearms, their homes ransacked, family members were assaulted, and three mobile phones stolen.
The suspects then fled the scene in a black Nissan Pulsar belonging to one of the victims.
Following investigations by Ag. Cpl Lee Lum, and on the recommendation of Inspector Sookdeo, ASP Morales gave instructions to charge the suspect with the following offences:
● Three counts of Burglary
● Three counts of Robbery with Violence
● Two counts of Larceny Motor Vehicle
● One count of Larceny
● Five counts of False Imprisonment
● One count of Interfering with a Motor Vehicle
● One count of Malicious Damage to a Motor Vehicle
● One count of Kidnapping
