A Cen­tral pen­sion­er died one day af­ter she was beat­en and robbed at her home. Po­lice con­firmed that Lutch­min Bick­ram, 75, was at­tacked at her Singh Av­enue, Cal­cut­ta #2 Road, Freeport home, around 3.45 pm on Fri­day.

A man of African de­scent en­tered the up­stairs apart­ment where she resided by pry­ing open a met­al door at the back of the build­ing. The man then pro­ceed­ed to beat the el­der­ly woman about her body be­fore rob­bing her of around $3,700 in cash. Bick­ram, the own­er of an apart­ment build­ing, oc­cu­pied the front up­stairs apart­ment. She man­aged to make it down­stairs af­ter the as­sault hap­pened and one of the ten­ants called the am­bu­lance. She died around mid­day on Sat­ur­day at the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal.

On Sun­day PC David Ho­sein of the Freeport CID and of­fi­cers of the Crime Scene Unit re­turned to the scene to con­duct fur­ther in­ves­ti­ga­tions. Po­lice said no ar­rests have been made as yet.
