Investigations are continuing into Wednesday’s murder of a pensioner at his home in Valencia.
The bloody body of Mohan Singh, 71, was discovered around 4 pm on Valentine’s Day by a female friend who had gone in search of him after several calls to his cell phone went unanswered.
Singh lived alone at Silica Sand Road, which is off the Valencia Bypass.
Police said that the friend had last seen and spoken to Singh on Tuesday afternoon, as they spent time together before she left for her home.
The woman reportedly became alarmed after she was unable to reach him earlier on Wednesday.
Opting to go to his home after several calls to him went unanswered as she was worried, the friend arrived and found Singh’s body, which bore several stab wounds, in the house.
She later alerted the police and neighbours who arrived at the scene.
Officers were unable to say if anything was stolen from the house, and a motive for the killing was yet to be ascertained up to yesterday.
Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region One are continuing enquiries.
