A 33-year-old "PH" taxi driver managed to escape unhurt after being hijacked in La Brea by two gunmen.
Reports stated that around 1:30 pm on Sunday the 33-year-old driver was plying his silver Nissan Almera for hire along Belle Vue #2 when he was stopped by a "passenger" wearing a white vest and black hat. He picked him up and continued driving. When they got to the dead-end, another man, armed with a firearm, accosted him. The passenger who was in the front seat also pointed a gun at him.
Afraid for his life, the driver fought them off, leapt into the back seat, exited the back door and escaped. He was assisted by pedestrians. When he returned to the scene with the police, his car was still there, but his Samsung A23 phone, his pioneer deck and the key—which had been in the ignition—were missing. Cpl Narine, Cpl Alcala and PC Silverton of the La Brea Police Station continued enquiries and arrested a 22-year-old labourer of Belle Vue #2.
