The PH taxi driver who was shot by an unknown gunman in El Dorado on Monday morning, has been identified as Ardiel “Patch” Small.
Investigators yesterday confirmed that he continued to be hospitalised in a critical but stable condition.
Small, 28, of Monte Grande, Tunapuna, was shot around 8.30 am at Govia Street, El Dorado, on October 31.
At the time, he had been plying his private car for hire when he was reportedly approached by four men who began shooting at him.
As Small ran towards the Priority Bus Route (PBR) to escape the gunmen, he fell in the nearby drain.
Officers driving west along the PBR observed what was happening and challenged the gunmen who refused to surrender, and continued shooting at lawmen as they escaped in a waiting car.
The getaway Nissan Almera was later found abandoned at the corner of Karamath Street and Caura Royal Road, El Dorado.
Small was shot six times about the body.
His injuries included a wound to the back of the neck which caused injuries to the throat; the left chest; the right upper arm; the right lower arm; the right lower leg; and the lower left foot.
It is believed that Small’s shooting was connected to the October 29 double murder at Cemetery Street, Tunapuna, in which two men were killed and a third was wounded.
Nirmal Ramberram, 18, and Elvis Hernandez, 28, both of Prescott Lane, Tunapuna, were killed by an unknown gunman as they sat under a tree in the Tunapuna Cemetery around 10.30 am on October 29.
A 39-year-old of Straker Lane, Tunapuna, was also wounded in that incident.
Investigations are continuing into both incidents.
