Seven days since a suspect was held in connection with the murder of three members of the Chuniesingh family from Pinto Road in Arima, police believe that the investigation will soon come to an end.
Guardian Media was told by police sources that the 30-year-old suspect, who is from Pinto Road, Arima, was arrested last Tuesday during an intelligence-led police exercise conducted by officers of the Northern Division.
The three victims, Polly Ann Chuniesingh, 31, her brother Damian Chuniesingh, 39, and their uncle Canadian citizen Randy Chuniesingh were found tied up and dead at Getwell Avenue, Pinto Road in Arima on January 6. Autopsies revealed that they were strangled.
Randy, who lived in Canada, was in Trinidad on vacation for the Christmas season.
Guardian Media was told that there was a recent attempt on Polly Ann's life where she was poisoned and had to be hospitalised.
Since she was discharged she was said to be staying with relatives at different locations.
Investigators said the file was sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions and they are currently waiting on further instructions as to whether or not there's enough evidence to charge the suspect.
