Prime Min­is­ter Dr Kei­th Row­ley is among five Caribbean lead­ers meet­ing with US Vice-Pres­i­dent Ka­mala Har­ris in Wash­ing­ton to­day.

The meet­ing comes three months af­ter the Joseph Biden ad­min­is­tra­tion and Caribbean lead­ers agreed to fine-tune de­tails of a new en­er­gy and cli­mate change part­ner­ship.

To­day's meet­ing is to re­view their progress and an­nounce a se­ries of steps the Unit­ed States will take to ad­dress the needs of the Caribbean re­gion.

Pres­i­dent Joe Biden had promised to “in­ten­si­fy” re­la­tions be­tween the Unit­ed States and the re­gion dur­ing the Ninth Sum­mit of the Amer­i­c­as. The Cari­com lead­ers at to­day's meet­ing are Chan San­tokhi of Suri­name; Ir­faan Ali of Guyana; Luis Abi­nad­er of the Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic; Mia Mot­t­ley of Bar­ba­dos and Dr Row­ley of Trinidad and To­ba­go.

Mot­t­ley, Row­ley and Ali each sep­a­rate­ly chaired a com­mit­tee in the walk-up to the dis­cus­sions. Dur­ing the sum­mit in June in Los An­ge­les, the Biden ad­min­is­tra­tion an­nounced the Unit­ed States-Caribbean Part­ner­ship to Ad­dress the Cli­mate Cri­sis, al­so known as PACC 2030.

Among sev­er­al ini­tia­tives, the Unit­ed States com­mit­ted to sup­port­ing en­er­gy in­fra­struc­ture and cli­mate re­silience projects; help­ing Caribbean coun­tries ac­cess fi­nanc­ing for cli­mate ini­tia­tives and as­sist­ing with iden­ti­fy­ing and launch­ing clean en­er­gy and cli­mate projects.
