Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley and a delegation from Trinidad and Tobago had an opportunity to discuss cyber-defence and national security issues with the US Deputy Under Secretary of Defense, Melissa Dalton, at the Pentagon, yesterday.
A release from the Office of the Prime Minister says during the meeting held on Monday (January 29, 2024), reports that other officials from the Department of Defense were also present for the meeting including Daniel Erikson, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for the Western Hemisphere.
“Discussions focussed on a number of areas including defence cooperation, border security, partnership with the Delaware National Guard, cyber-defense and cyber-security, as well as regional maritime interdiction,” the statement said.
In addition, on Monday evening, Prime Minister Rowley met with the Director of the CIA, William Burns, at the CIA’s Langley Headquarters in Virginia.
The T&T delegation led by Dr Rowley includes Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Senator Dr Amery Browne; Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, Stuart Young MP; and Chief of Defence Staff of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force, Air Vice-Marshal Darryl Daniel.
