Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley is said to be doing well in the US, where he is undergoing routine medical checks.

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley is said to be doing well in the US, where he is receiving medical treatment.

The Prime Minister stayed in the US for routine medical check-ups following the recent Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles. He has remained silent on several issues plaguing his Cabinet in his absence.

When asked during yesterday’s post-Cabinet media briefing to give an update on the Prime Minister’s well-being, Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, Stuart Young, said all was well.

“As far as I am aware, I was in contact with the Prime Minister this morning, he was in good spirits, he is doing well. He will talk when he returns as he always does about what he’s undergone et cetera,” Young said.

He said the Prime Minister told him he was doing “extremely well” and he will return to T&T “very shortly.”

When it was suggested to Young by a member of the media that his words could be interpreted in other ways, he clarified, saying, “It is not me to come here and not anybody to come here unless directed by the Prime Minister to give a report on his health, so to assure the population, as far as I’m aware, the Prime Minister is doing very well.”

Guardian Media asked whether Rowley had any discussions with the Cabinet about the current saga surrounding Attorney General Reginald Armour and his disqualification from representing this country in a Piarco Airport civil matter in the US.

“The Prime Minister is out of the country on his own personal business, the Prime Minister hasn’t had any discussion with the Cabinet, there is nothing for the Prime Minister to discuss with the Cabinet until he gets back,” Young said.

Asked if the PM had discussed the issue with him, Young said he would not reveal details of his discussions with Rowley.
