Trinidad and Tobago, like many small island states, continues to be negatively affected by climate change.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley engaged with US Special Presidential envoy for climate change, John Kerry to discuss initiatives in the areas of methane and carbon reduction.
These include the use of carbon capture sequestration and utilization.
According to a post on the Prime Minister's Facebook page, the meeting focused on the use of captured carbon to produce blue energy products, renewables and newer and more efficient technologies in electricity production.
Discussions also included plans for methanol fueling and bunkering for shipping as Trinidad is well placed geographically and a major producer of methanol.
Other matters related to energy security and regional energy development were also discussed.
