A for­mer Peo­ple’s Na­tion­al Move­ment (PNM) ac­tivist was chopped on the head yes­ter­day morn­ing while pick­ing flow­ers by a man armed with a cut­lass.

Re­ports said the ac­tivist had just re­turned from a morn­ing run and had gone to his flower gar­den to pick flow­ers for his morn­ing de­vo­tions around 6.30 am when he was at­tacked.

Rel­a­tives who heard his cries for help rushed him to the San­gre Grande Hos­pi­tal, where he is ward­ed in sta­ble con­di­tion.

The at­tack­er was lat­er ar­rest­ed at Sou Sou Lands in Cu­nar­ipo and was de­tained at the San­gre Grande Po­lice Sta­tion, where he is be­ing ques­tioned. —Ralph Ban­warie
