The Peo­ple’s Na­tion­al Move­ment (PNM) is de­mand­ing full dis­clo­sure from the Gov­ern­ment fol­low­ing claims made by for­mer Prime Min­is­ter Dr Kei­th Row­ley dur­ing a me­dia con­fer­ence this morn­ing. 

In a me­dia re­lease is­sued by PNM Pub­lic Re­la­tions Of­fi­cer Faris Al-Rawi, the par­ty ex­pressed grave con­cern over Dr Row­ley’s ac­count and said it ful­ly sup­ports his call for clar­i­ty. 

The PNM is now call­ing on Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar, in her ca­pac­i­ty as head of the Na­tion­al Se­cu­ri­ty Coun­cil, Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice Al­lis­ter Gue­var­ro, and At­tor­ney Gen­er­al John Je­re­mie to im­me­di­ate­ly and com­plete­ly dis­close any in­for­ma­tion they have on the mat­ter.

“The coun­try must be told if, in fact, Dr Row­ley’s name has been placed on an In­ter­pol Watch List with the knowl­edge and or in­volve­ment of lo­cal au­thor­i­ties and, if so, when this hap­pened,” the re­lease stat­ed.

The PNM un­der­scored that Dr Row­ley served in pub­lic of­fice for over 45 years, in­clud­ing al­most a decade as prime min­is­ter, and re­mained ac­tive in re­gion­al CARI­COM af­fairs un­til re­cent­ly.

“In the cir­cum­stances, it be­hoves the lo­cal au­thor­i­ties and the Gov­ern­ment of Trinidad and To­ba­go to treat this mat­ter with ex­treme ur­gency and pro­vide clar­i­fi­ca­tion and trans­paren­cy to the for­mer prime min­is­ter and to the cit­i­zens of Trinidad and To­ba­go,” the state­ment said.

The par­ty con­clud­ed by say­ing it awaits a sub­stan­tive re­sponse from both the prime min­is­ter and the com­mis­sion­er of po­lice.
