Investigators are yet to determine whether robbery was the motive for Saturday’s murder of Point Fortin business woman Sandra Gopee-Despot.
Gopee-Despot, 56, was discovered dead by her common-law husband, Floyd Patterson, at their home in Fanny Village.
A report stated that an anonymous witness contacted the Point Fortin Police Station, reporting a woman lying unresponsive at a house at Hollywood Junction.
Cpl Changoor and WPC Monsegue, who were on mobile patrol, went to the house and met Floyd, who reported that he left the house around 6.30 am Saturday with Gopee-Despot inside.
When he returned at 6.30 pm, he found her lying in blood, unresponsive, on the living room floor.
She had injuries to her head, and someone covered her face with a sheet.
Floyd took the officers into the house, where they saw Gopee-Despot lying in underwear, both hands bound with plastic straps.
Her killer had covered her with a cream-coloured bed sheet.
