A 24-year-old man remains hospitalised after being stabbed repeatedly during an altercation at a bar in Point Fortin on Saturday.
Police said the incident occurred around 10 am at Royal Bar along the Guapo Cap-de-Ville, Main Road.
The victim of Cap-de-Ville, Point Fortin, was stabbed with a knife in his left forearm, right shoulder, left shoulder, right side abdomen, left chest, the back of his neck, and right lower back.
The 30-year-old suspect of New Village, Point Fortin, was held by police seeking medical treatment. He had an injury to his right palm.
Police said the suspect claimed that he was sitting in front of the Royal Bar when he had an altercation with the victim who allegedly pulled out a firearm and pointed it at him. The suspect claimed he took out a switchblade also called a flick knife from his pocket and began stabbing the victim. Onlookers intervened and contacted the police and ambulance.
Police said the suspect ran off and made his way to the Point Fortin Hospital. Investigators said the suspect could not explain how he got the wound on his right palm.
The victim was hospitalised at the same facility.
