Police arrested a 47-year-old Belmont man after they allegedly found a loaded firearm and ammunition in his possession during an early morning anti-crime exercise on Sunday 1st June 2025.
Between 5 am and 8 am, officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force went to Agostini Trace, Gonzales, where they stopped and searched the suspect. According to police, the man was carrying a bag containing a firearm loaded with a magazine of 11 rounds.
Officers arrested the suspect on the spot. The exercise was led by ACP Hazel, Superintendent Ramsook and ASP Singh.
In a separate incident the night before, officers of the Southern Division arrested a 24-year-old Princes Town man for several offences. Around 8 pm on Saturday 31st May 2025, police held the man for:
Possession of a weapon
Three counts of obscene language
Three counts of disorderly behaviour
Resisting arrest
Two counts of insulting language
Threatening language
Escaping lawful custody
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
