One suspect was arrested following a police sting operation conducted by officers attached to the North Central Division Robbery and Larceny Motor Vehicle Unit on Wednesday.
The operation took place between noon and 3:00 pm and was carried out as part of investigations into a report of robbery with aggravation.
The exercise was led by ACP Singh, Snr. Supt. Gift, Supt. Jaikaran, ASP Bharath and ASP Pierre, with supervision by Sgt. Stevenson.
Police said the operation followed enquiries into a robbery with aggravation which occurred on December 4, 2025, along St. Michael Road, Arouca. During investigations, officers received information relating to a white Toyota Axio, which was reported to have been used in the commission of the offence.
At about 1:00 pm on Wednesday (January 14, 2026), officers observed the vehicle while it was within the St. Joseph Police District. The vehicle was intercepted and one suspect was taken into custody.
The suspect is a 36-year-old man of Private Furness Road, Laventille. He was arrested in connection with the report of robbery with aggravation.
Police said the suspect and the motor vehicle were conveyed to the Arouca Police Station. The vehicle was seized as part of the investigation.
Investigations are ongoing and are being continued by officers attached to the Arouca Criminal Investigations Department.
Charges are yet to be laid in the matter.
