Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro visited Tobago this morning, on his first official trip since assuming office, saying his main goal was to meet and motivate officers serving on the island.
CoP Guevarro said he planned to spend the day visiting as many police stations as possible before returning to Trinidad.
“I will be visiting them today, as many of them as I can, before I head back to Trinidad,” he told Guardian Media on arrival.
“I just want to encourage them to keep up the good work,” he confided. “Their effort is part of an entire system, and everyone needs to get on board.”
The Commissioner also commended officers for their dedication in maintaining safety and order across Tobago, saying their work reflects the wider strength of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
He described Tobago as “an island of love”, and said he has always received a warm welcome from residents.
“My expectations? A warm welcome. I have received nothing less every time I have come to Tobago,” he said.
He added: “Once I get love with a place, I will continue to come back.”
CoP Guevarro is expected to meet with divisional heads and other ranks across the island during his one-day visit.
