Po­lice Com­mis­sion­er Al­lis­ter Gue­var­ro vis­it­ed To­ba­go this morn­ing, on his first of­fi­cial trip since as­sum­ing of­fice, say­ing his main goal was to meet and mo­ti­vate of­fi­cers serv­ing on the is­land.

CoP Gue­var­ro said he planned to spend the day vis­it­ing as many po­lice sta­tions as pos­si­ble be­fore re­turn­ing to Trinidad.

“I will be vis­it­ing them to­day, as many of them as I can, be­fore I head back to Trinidad,” he told Guardian Me­dia on ar­rival.

“I just want to en­cour­age them to keep up the good work,” he con­fid­ed. “Their ef­fort is part of an en­tire sys­tem, and every­one needs to get on board.”

The Com­mis­sion­er al­so com­mend­ed of­fi­cers for their ded­i­ca­tion in main­tain­ing safe­ty and or­der across To­ba­go, say­ing their work re­flects the wider strength of the Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice.

He de­scribed To­ba­go as “an is­land of love”, and said he has al­ways re­ceived a warm wel­come from res­i­dents.

“My ex­pec­ta­tions? A warm wel­come. I have re­ceived noth­ing less every time I have come to To­ba­go,” he said.

He added: “Once I get love with a place, I will con­tin­ue to come back.”

CoP Gue­var­ro is ex­pect­ed to meet with di­vi­sion­al heads and oth­er ranks across the is­land dur­ing his one-day vis­it.
