Police have increased patrols around the home of Minister of Finance Davendranath Tancoo MP and a relative following a recent threat.

The incident occurred on May 24, 2025, when a man armed with a cutlass appeared outside a relative’s home in Fyzabad around 6:13 pm.

Dressed in dark clothing and riding a bicycle, the man reportedly asked to speak with Minister Tancoo’s 43-year-old female relative.

He instructed her to pass a message to Minister Tancoo for Minister of Homeland Security Roger Alexander, warning:

“Tell the Minister of Homeland Security there is a wave in crime in Fyzabad, to beef up security and police and doh stay home.”

The man then rode off.

Officers of the South-Western Division Task Force canvassed the area and reviewed CCTV footage, but as of this morning, the suspect had not been found.

Investigations are ongoing.
