In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing in­to an­oth­er al­leged rob­bery where the vic­tim had re­cent­ly left a bank.

Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, at about 3:10 pm on Tues­day, the vic­tim, 36, of Bon Air Gar­dens went to a bank lo­cat­ed off Trinci­ty Cen­tral Road, Trinci­ty where he with­drew $9,000.

He then left and pro­ceed­ed to the Trinci­ty Mall carpark on the south­ern side to de­posit the mon­ey at an­oth­er bank.

On park­ing his ve­hi­cle, he was ap­proached by two men, one armed with a firearm who in­struct­ed him to hand over the quan­ti­ty of cash.

The vic­tim be­came fear­ful for his life and was re­lieved of the $9,000 cash, his wal­let which con­tained $1000 cash, and one Sam­sung S10 cell­phone val­ued at $5,000.

The sus­pects then es­caped in a wait­ing ve­hi­cle.

On Mon­day, in a me­dia re­lease, the Bankers As­so­ci­a­tion of T&T (BATT) said it was con­cerned about the re­cent re­ports of rob­beries that seemed to be re­lat­ed to cash with­drawals from var­i­ous fi­nan­cial in­sti­tu­tions.

The BATT, how­ev­er, as­sured that its mem­ber banks have a "ze­ro-tol­er­ance pol­i­cy" for any type of crim­i­nal ac­tiv­i­ty, adding that they have al­ways placed the se­cu­ri­ty of cus­tomers as their num­ber one pri­or­i­ty.

The T&T Po­lice Ser­vice (TTPS) on Tues­day urged the pub­lic to be more vig­i­lant and re­port sus­pi­cious be­hav­iour.

Deputy Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice (DCP), In­tel­li­gence and In­ves­ti­ga­tions, Curt Si­mon said TTPS an­a­lysts are “drilling down deep in­to” the re­cent up­surge of rob­beries tar­get­ing bank cus­tomers.

Po­lice are ask­ing mem­bers of the pub­lic who may have any in­for­ma­tion to con­tact them at the near­est sta­tion, 999, 555 or 800 TIPS.
