Two men were held by police officers shortly after committing an armed robbery in Tunapuna on Wednesday.
Police said the victim was standing along Bazilon Street in Tunapuna around 12.45 am when he was approached by an armed suspect who grabbed his gold chain valued at $15,000.
As the gunman walked towards the Eastern Main Road, he was met by another man, and the two allegedly took off running east.
PC’s O’Neil and Duncan of the North Central Division, Area West Task Force, who were on patrol, saw the men near the Macoya Intersection.
The officers approached the suspects and ordered them to stop, and following a search, the police recovered a black subcompact XD9 9mm pistol loaded with 13 rounds of 9 mm ammunition, along with the victim’s gold chain.
They arrested the men and advised the victim to file a formal police report.
The suspects were later identified as being from Morvant and Sea Lots. —ALP
