Two men were held by po­lice of­fi­cers short­ly af­ter com­mit­ting an armed rob­bery in Tu­na­puna on Wednes­day.

Po­lice said the vic­tim was stand­ing along Bazilon Street in Tu­na­puna around 12.45 am when he was ap­proached by an armed sus­pect who grabbed his gold chain val­ued at $15,000.

As the gun­man walked to­wards the East­ern Main Road, he was met by an­oth­er man, and the two al­leged­ly took off run­ning east.

PC’s O’Neil and Dun­can of the North Cen­tral Di­vi­sion, Area West Task Force, who were on pa­trol, saw the men near the Ma­coya In­ter­sec­tion.

The of­fi­cers ap­proached the sus­pects and or­dered them to stop, and fol­low­ing a search, the po­lice re­cov­ered a black sub­com­pact XD9 9mm pis­tol loaded with 13 rounds of 9 mm am­mu­ni­tion, along with the vic­tim’s gold chain.

They ar­rest­ed the men and ad­vised the vic­tim to file a for­mal po­lice re­port.

The sus­pects were lat­er iden­ti­fied as be­ing from Mor­vant and Sea Lots. —ALP
