A police officer was injured after being struck in the face with a glass bottle during a disturbance in Ste Madeleine on Monday.

Around 4:30 pm, two constables from the Ste Madeleine Police Station responded to a report of missiles being thrown at Seon Drive, Tarodale. When they arrived, they encountered a group of about ten people, including men and women, involved in a heated argument. Some were armed with stones and pieces of concrete.

As the officers attempted to defuse the situation, a woman ran up to a 43-year-old resident standing outside her home and pushed her. The resident responded by throwing a bottle, which instead struck one of the officers on the left side of his face, causing his mouth to bleed.

The officer was taken for treatment. His injuries were described as a possible fractured jaw and a laceration to the inner mouth. The woman was arrested and is expected to be charged.
